Types of therapy sessions

Individual Therapy

Sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which I work with clients one-on-one—coming alongside you with compassion, empowering you on your journey toward growth and transformation. Together we will explore how your individual background, beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors may be impacting you in both positive and negative ways. We will learn and practice techniques, forming new habits that are in line with your overall vision for your life.

*In person and telehealth available

Couples Therapy

A couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered—or other pairings) works with me to identify specific areas of conflict, and then develop a plan of action to improve each individual's relationship satisfaction. Couples grow in their empathy toward each other, improve emotional responses, and develop healthy communication and conflict resolution skills to enhance the long-term health of their relationship.

*In person and telehealth available

Family Therapy

Family members will work together to understand each other and work through difficult feelings in a safe space. This type of therapy focuses on improving the interactions and communication between family members. It is usually used when the family is contributing to a person's difficulties or when one person's problems are impacting other family members. Together, we will work to promote problem-solving by a better understanding of family dynamics and identify boundaries and hierarchies within a family unit

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro,1989).  Eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) are used during one part of the session. Unlike talk therapy, the insights you gain in EMDR therapy result not so much from talking, but from your own accelerated intellectual and emotional processes.  The net effect is that you conclude EMDR therapy feeling empowered by the very experiences that once disturbed you.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE NOTICE for Uninsured Clients and Private Pay Clients: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
